From November 30th until March 1st, 2009, the Missouri History Museum in Minneapolis will be displaying a special exhibit looking at the life and times of scientist George Washington Carver.

Often incorrectly credited with the invention of peanut butter, Carver - who was born into slavery in 1864 - is reputed to have invented hundreds of products using natural ingredients, such as adhesives, axle grease, bleach, chili sauce, ink, instant coffee, mayonnaise and shoe polish.

He also created hundreds of food recipes, including roasted peanuts, and published several cook books that have influenced diets right across the western world.

Although he left no documentation of his experiments, the museum has collected together various historical artifacts from his life and times to create an interactive audio-visual journey that highlights the state of the US in the 19th century and the lasting impact of his legacy.

Anyone wishing to visit this exhibition can book into a Minneapolis hotel for accommodation.
