News|Celebrate tolerance in LA in anniversary month of WWIIThe institution is unique in its exploration of the dynamics of bigotry and discrimination that resulted in one of history's greatest atrocities, the Holocaust. As the only museum of its kind, it is the educational branch of the Simon Wiesenthal Centre, a human rights organisation that seeks to encourage understanding by teaching and partnering with communities. There are four main exhibition areas, which visitors, including those staying at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel, can discover. Special exhibitions are often installed, including the current display, which details the drawings of the children who are victims of the Darfur conflict. Meanwhile, the Holocaust section is a sounds and light-guided presentation that introduces people to the Nazis. Each person is given a child's passport. The youngster's life changes throughout the tour until the fate of the individual is revealed at the end. The Tolerance Center and Finding Our Families, Finding Ourselves sections may also appeal. It is estimated that some 11 million people were killed during the Holocaust, with six million of this number being Jews.
