From now until September 28th, the Steven Sondheim musical Assassins will be playing at the El Centro Theatre in Los Angeles.

A bold choice for West Coast Ensemble to bring to the stage in an election year, the musical sets out the story of a murderous carnival game in which men and women try to assassinate the President of the US across different periods in time.

Sondheim wrote music and lyrics for the multi-award-winning show based on a book by John Weidman, which in turn was influenced by the ideas of Charles Gilbert, Jr.

The events in Assassins are based real chapters from history such as the assassinations of President Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth and President John F. Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald, and attempts on the lives of Presidents Ronald Reagan, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Richard Nixon.

A challenging but ultimately enjoyable show, Assassins has previously thrilled audiences on Broadway and in London's West End.

Anyone wishing to see the musical again, or for the first time, can visit the El Centro Theatre, and book into a Los Angeles hotel for conveniently-situated accommodation.
