Downtown Los Angeles is the area that is bounded by the Los Angeles River to the east, Route 101 to the North, the 10 Santa Monica to the south and the 110 Harbor Freeway to the west. Downtown LA is the area with the highest concentration of museums in the city. The Museum of Contemporary Art itself has two branches in the area, and visitors to Exposition Park can access the Natural History Museum and the California African American Museum. Visitors to downtown LA can find specialized museums including the Japanese American National Museum, the Chinese American National Museum and more.

Staples Center, located downtown, is home to five professional level teams from the NBA, WNBA, AFL and NHL. This venue is also used for various musical performances that in the past have included high profile artists such as Prince, Madonna and Rod Stewart to name a few.
