Hear a Schumann Piano Concerto in Doha this spring
From 18 May 2013 To 18 May 2013Address
Opera House, Doha, Qatar
Composer and musician Robert Schumann had begun several piano concerti and scrapped them all before sitting down in 1841 to create a fantasy for piano and orchestra.
His wife Clara liked the resulting 'Phantasie' so much that she urged him to expand it into a full piano concerto - and the Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 54 was born in 1845.
Guests at Doha hotels can hear this wonderfully romantic showpiece that is still beloved by classical music fans if they head to the city's Opera House on May 18th.
It will be performed in full by Jasminka Stancul on the piano and accompanied by Scriabin's Symphony No. 2 in C Minor and Sharara's Arabic Suite.
Tickets are priced between 75 QAR and 300 QAR depending on seating, with the most expensive places representing the best views in the house.
Guests at the Millennium Hotel Doha can reach the Opera House in 14 minutes by car, so getting a taxi there and back could be the best option.
