The new employee recognition program initiated by Millennium Hotels in 2007 has proven to be well-received and successful at the Millennium Cincinnati. Through the past months, employees from Maitenance, Bistro on Elm, Housekeeping, Front Desk, Catering, Sales and the Banquets department have been recognized as Associates of the Month. In addition to these employees, others have also been recognized as manager of the quarter and some employees have received Millennium “pineapple pins” for their outstanding displays of hospitality.

These awards are all presented at the monthly staff appreciation receptions held in a banquet room open to all employees. The receptions can be rather large, with attendance by over 150 associates who enjoy snacks and refreshments, including a delicious dessert bar. Each Staff Appreciation is hosted by a different department within the hotel. The chosen department organizes both the setup and decoration for the reception and the free lunch in the Hardwork Café. Previous hosting departments have included Banquets, Accounting, Sales, Front Desk, Reservations, Human Resources, Guest Services and the Executive Sales Committee.

The Associate of the Month describes an employee who has gone above and beyond his or her call of duty and has worked towards the hotel's goal of becoming the friendliest, cleanest, and most admired hotel in the greater Cincinnati area by consistently exceeding guest and owner expectations through highly motivated, knowledgeable and caring associates trained and empowered to deliver the best customer service to every guest, every day. Recipients of the Employee of the Month Award receive a personalized plaque in addition to a check for $150.

In an effort to recognize some of the other Millennium associates who have made outstanding displays of hospitality to guests, the hotel has also started to award pineapple pins. The pineapple is the international symbol of hospitality. These pins are given to deserving individuals to display on their uniforms to denote their status as a specialist in service excellence.
