Holidaymakers staying at the Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago may have been among those who enjoying an exciting game of baseball over the weekend.

The Chicago Cubs thrashed the Cincinnati Reds 5-2 on Sunday in a game which saw Tom Lilly pitch six scoreless innings and Derreck Lee hit two homers, as well as singling twice.

Lilly now has a 1.60 earned-run average from 12 starts and told the Chicago Tribune that he is thrilled.

"I take pride in what I do. It's really important to me. It's a special opportunity not only to play baseball, but to do it here in Chicago," he added.

For anyone going on holiday to Chicago, a trip to Wrigley Field to see the Cubs play could be a particular highlight.

The team is currently the two-time defending champion of the Major League Baseball's National League Central Division, while rivals include neighbours the Chicago White Sox and the St Louis Cardinals.
