Japanese experimental rock trio Boris are to headline at the Empty Bottle club in Chicago on November 29th.

With support from Finnish electro-group Clouds, the band, who have recently toured with Nine Inch Nails, will be playing hits from their fourteenth studio album, Smile.

The prolific band create a unique sound from a hodge-podge of competing genres. Their sound ranges from heavy metal and psychedelic rock to ambient music and quiet instrumentals.

Tokyo-based Boris have been recording and touring since 1996, and have built up an international reputation over the last decade.

The four-piece cite the likes of Sleep, Nick Cave, Venom and the Melvins among their eclectic influences.

Smile features the songs Messeeji (Statement) and two tracks with American musician Stephen O'Malley on guitar. It is the follow-up to their last two successful albums, Pink (2005) and Vein (2006).
