Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel Chicago is located downtown near The Art Institute of Chicago,
one of America’s finest fine art museums. The Museum is particularly famous for its large
collection of American and Impressionist art. The museum also possesses a number of ‘old master’

The Art Institute building was constructed in the year 1893, for the purpose of hosting the
World’s Columbian Exposition though there have been modern additions the core of the building
remains largely unchanged. The building was designed in the classical Beaux-Arts architectural
style with a grand Italian Renaissance façade.
Among the museum’s permanent collection is the Impressionist and Post-Impressionist
collection which includes works by artistes of the caliber of Claude Monet, Pierre- August Renoir
and Paul Cezanne. It also has on display two paintings by the Dutch master Vincent van Gough
entitled Bedroom in Arles and Self Portrait. In addition to its impressive collection of
historic masterpieces the Chicago Art Institute has recently embarked on an ambitious Modern Art
Wing which is expected to showcase some of the most exciting artists of the 20th century.
