CHICAGO HOSPITALITY VETERAN, JAMES GOULD, JOINS MILLENNIUM
KNICKERBOCKER AS GENERAL MANAGER
CHICAGO (August 16, 2012) --- The Millennium Knickerbocker Hotel has announced James Gould as the new general manager of the historic 306-room hotel.
Bringing more than 20 years of experience in hotel operations in the Chicago market, Gould is an exceptional addition to the Knickerbocker Hotel. An accomplished leader with a proven track record of enhancing market share and the ability to improve employee and customer satisfaction while increasing profitability, Gould will continue to increase the hotel’s reputation as one of the city’s premier hotels. He will be responsible for overall hotel operations, overseeing the implementation of new initiatives to strengthen the position and reputation of the hotel in key markets around the world.

Prior to joining the Millennium Hotels & Resorts, Gould was regional vice president of operations for Chicago’s Portfolio Hotels & Resorts overseeing full and limited service properties. He is known as a transitional leader, developing award-winning teams that produce exceptional results in customer, employee and shareholder value. Before joining Portfolio, Gould was general manager of Sofitel Chicago O'Hare, Rosemont, Illinois. During his time as general manager, the Sofitel Chicago O’Hare won the Planners Choice Award, Pinnacle Award and Merit & Distinction Award for outstanding service for meeting and conferences held at the property.
Gould also served as general manager for Novotel Meadowlands in New Jersey, acting general manager for Novotel Toronto Centre, resident manager for Sofitel Chicago O’Hare, rooms director for the Sheraton Northbrook in Chicago and Hilton Skokie in Chicago and various positions at the Radisson Lisle in Chicago.
He has been on the Executive Board of the Illinois Hotel and Lodging Association (ILHA) since 2006 and in 2010 he served as the organization’s chairman. Additionally, he served as the 2011 chairman for the Schaumburg Business Association and the vice chairman for the Woodfield Chicago Northwest Convention Bureau from 2008-2011. He has been a member of La Societe “Les Amis d’Escoffier” since 2004. Gould holds a degree in Hotel Management from Oakton Community College and attended the General Manager Program at Cornell University.
