NHL's Buffalo Sabres will be hosting the Anaheim Ducks on February 24th, in a game that both teams need to win if they are to secure qualification to the playoffs.

The Sabres are currently third in the north-east division with 29 wins from 57 games; that is enough to give them eighth overall in the Eastern Conference with 64 points and the last post-season slot.

However, the Carolina Hurricanes are snapping at their heels and are just three points behind with 61 in the south-east division.

In the Western Conference, 2007's Stanley Cup champions have had a tough season in the Pacific division and currently find themselves third with 61 points.

That leaves them ninth in the conference and just one point outside of the final playoff spot, which is currently occupied by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

With so much at stake, every point counts at this late stage in the season and both teams will be gunning for a victory when they skate out onto the Buffalo ice at the HSBC Arena.
