The University of Colorado at Boulder will this year play host to an event that has been described by film critic and regular participant Roger Ebert as a "conference on everything conceivable" and by the New York Times as "a week-long extravaganza of discussion and debate".

Set to return for its 64th annual edition, the Conference on World Affairs will take place at the university from 9th to 13th April.

The event was founded in 1948 as a forum focusing solely on international affairs but expanded its scope in its early years to encompass a broad range of topics, including the arts, media, science, technology, politics, the environment, medicine and human rights.

Every year, hotels in Boulder welcome about 100 participants representing various fields for a series of panels, plenary sessions and performances.

The line-up of people due to take part in this year's conference includes New York-based television journalist and filmmaker Nina Alvarez, Lebanese musician Rony Barrak and G Willow Wilson, an author from Seattle.

All events are free and open to the public, with audiences ranging in size from fewer than 100 people at smaller sessions to more than 2,000 at more high-profile occasions.

Set off from the Millennium Harvest House Boulder and head to Kittredge Loop in the centre of the city to visit the University of Colorado at Boulder.
