News|SWEA's annual Christmas fair in BostonWhile this may sound a bit niche for many people, there is plenty of fun to be had. As well as an interesting assortment of rare crafts and products for visitors to peruse, there will also be delicious hot mulled wine, music, dancing and tasty treats. There will also be a Lucia procession, which traditionally takes place on the darkest day of the year in Sweden. Dressed in a white dress with a crown of candles, a Queen of Light leads a procession and promises to bring light to the people in time for the holidays, much to the amusement of the crowd. For many in the Swedish community, this event is the highlight of the Swedish Christmas period. Lucia songs are also performed while those in attendance enjoy coffee, ginger bread and buns. This year, there will also be a special exhibit, entitled Swedish Innovation. It will highlight the important technological contributions that the country has made over history, displaying examples of inventions including Alfred Nobel's dynamite, the zipper and the computer mouse.
