The Logan International Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in the United States. Located in the East Boston precinct of Boston, Massachusetts it handles up to 27 million passengers a year.  Originally known as Boston Airport when it began operations in 1923, it was mostly used for military purposes.  With the burgeoning of commercial air traffic and the growth of the region’s economy the airport also expanded with the addition of 1,800 acres and subsequent development in the airport’s infrastructure.

Today the airport has six runaways and links to various destinations in the United States, Canada, the Cape Verde Islands, Europe, the Caribbean and Central America. Logan International Airport has four terminals that are interlinked via walkways and shuttle busses.

The airport also features a wide variety of restaurants as well as food and beverage outlets. Visitors to the airport can find everything from a full course meal to fast food options and coffee bars.
Logan International Airport also features several shopping outlets located throughout the building that provide the opportunity to buy a range of goods including books, fashion and clothing items, health products and more.

The Logan International Airport is well connected to the city of Boston and the MBTA Silver Line rapid transit bus connects it with the downtown Financial District. The MBTA Blue Line service also travels to the airport and links it with Wood Island in East Boston.  Reflecting the face of a modern and efficient airport, for many travelers their gateway to this region is the Logan Airport.
