A three-day course in landscape painting is being held in the Fairbanks area giving people the
chance to study artistic principles in a dramatic setting.
Jessie Hadden, from the University of Alaska, Fairbanks will lead the course in this field
painting class which is offered to all skill levels and working within their own interest areas.
The outdoor painting sessions will be supported by lectures and demonstrations and will cover
the use of basic art materials, concepts of space, color, composition, light and scale.
Elements specific to landscape painting such as weather, treatment of water, reflections and
linear perspective will also be covered.
Jessie Hedden has been living and painting in the Fairbanks area for ten years and lectures
in the University of Alaska, Fairbanks art department.
The classes will begin at 09:00 and conclude at 16:30 with an hour for lunch and allowing for
30 minutes traveling.
The course runs from July 10th to 13th, 2008 and dressing for the weather is advised in the
event that your finished piece is a study in rainfall on the landscape.
