City of Silk

Madinat Al-Jareer in Arabic meaning " City of Silk " is a proposed 250 square kilometer planned urban area in Subiya, North of Kuwait connected to Kuwait City by a new Bay-Bridge joining with the Arabic Bay Port.

The project would include the Burj Mubarak Al-Kabir, a natural dessert reservation of 2 square kilometers, a duty free area which will be beside a new airport, in addition to a large business center, conference areas, environmental areas, athletic areas, and areas that concentrate on media, health, education and industry.

Inspired by the promise of a new cosmopolitan lifestyle of the Arabian Gulf, the City of Silk shall bring a blend of aspirations to a new location in the Arab World with numerous tourist attractions, hotel, spas, and public garden. The city is planned to accommodate  nearly 700,000 people and create around 430,000 new jobs.

The city will be built in individual phases with total completion within twenty-five years. The development will cost an estimated 25 billion Kuwait Dinars (~94 billion USD).
