Pay a visit to the Malacanang Palace and discover one the most interesting things to do in Manila

The official residence of the Philippine president as well as the seat of the government, the Malacanang Palace is a major national landmark. Set on the banks of the Pasig River, the palace was originally a summer home of a grandee.

The palace complex is presently divided into  sections which include the main palace, Kalayaan Hall; the former American-period executive building, the Bonifacio Hall, the grand staircase, Mabini Hall; which is the administrative building, the Presidential Study and the New Executive Building. The Malacanang Park, a recreation hall, an American-era guesthouse and a golf course are located across the river.

Fascinating museum

The Kalayaan Hall serves as the museum and the heart of the palace. Featuring galleries and exhibits displaying the impressive legacies of the nation's presidents, the collections of the museum are arranged chronologically, from the Spanish era to the EDSA People Power Revolution.

Among the personal collections of the presidents exhibited here are campaign posters, religious images, gifts of foreign VIPs, the riding boots of President Ramon Magsaysay, necklaces of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and more.
