The Taichung Winery is a lesser known attraction in the city. However, it is well worth a visit.
Having moved in 1998 from a landmark site site dating back to the Japanese Colonial era, the winery is now located in modern facilities in Taichung Industrial Park. Along with state of the art equipment, the facilities now allow the general public to pay a visit and view the production processes.
Covering 21 hectares, the facilities include gardens, a museum and a product exhibition. In the museum, visitors can learn about the history and development of Taiwan's wines and spirits. In addition, the process of choosing key ingredients such as barley, wheat, sorghum and rice is introduced.
For groups of 20 or more persons, reservations can be made in advance for a guided tour of the manufacturing facilities.
