Located in the heart of the capital in Place Georges Pompidou, close to other attractions including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the museum is itself an artwork. The modern and sometimes controversial building, was designed by Renzo Piano and opened in 1977.

As well as housing the largest museum for modern art in Europe, it also is home to a vast public library.

Current exhibitions include a retrospective of photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson's work. Considered the founding father of photojournalism, the showcase features more than 500 photos, paintings, drawings, films and documents.

The exhibition runs from February 12th to June 9th 2014.
