Gauguin's paintings get an airing as this often peculiar and occasionally downright odd exhibition goes on display at the Musée du Quai Branly. Artists as diverse as Marlon Brando and Elvis are showcased in an effort to relive the wonderful world of Tiki Pop.

It's all about the development of modern American music and cinema, with the images on display being saturated with easy living, sun and beautiful half-naked women. This is a fantasy that helped a post-war version of the country find its feet again.

Perhaps your favourite images will be those of bars made out to look like beach hut motels. Or the ones of bowling alleys decked out in coconut and bamboo decor - plastic palm trees included. Whatever you prefer, this is a thorough exploration of an extraordinary snapshot in history.

Visit the Musée du Quai Branly to find out more, and while you're at it, be sure to stay at the The Millennium Hotel Paris Opera.
