City Day Festival Malaysia or the commemoration of the Federal Territory Day is celebrated on the 1st of February every year and is one of the most splendid festivals celebrated in Malaysia. The celebration usually takes place near the Lake Gardens at the city’s independence square, Dataran Merdeka.

Followed by many vibrant festivities, the City Day Festival is lavishly celebrated in the city of Kuala Lumpur. Especially popular among the enthused Malaysian patriots during this time of the year are the locales of Kuala Lumpur City Hall, the banks of Lake Gardens and Lake Titiwangsa. The city comes alive with flamboyant lighting and multihued deco as people throng to watch outdoor competitions, cultural shows and parades, exhibitions and magnificent fireworks displays.

Attracting large crowds from all over the world, the Kuala Lumpur International Marathon is also held annually together with the Kuala Lumpur City Day celebrations in February. It is the ideal season for international visitors to experience the rich and vibrant culture of Malaysia and also take the opportunity to sample luscious Malaysian cuisine. Tourists in Kuala Lumpur will also be treated with other significant Kuala Lumpur Festivals such as the Chinese New Year during this season, adding to the joyous festivities and exuberant programmes of exotic parades and traditional dances.
