La Traviata is one of the most famous operas in the world, having first been performed in Venice in 1853.

Giuseppe Verdi's masterpiece is based on La dame aux Camelias of 1852 and has been performed all over the world.

It is split into three acts and follows noble courtesan Violetta Valery who falls in love with Alfred.

There is no fulfilment to be had in this love, however, as topics such as solitude, illness and death come to the fore.

People staying in Hannover hotels from next month will be able to catch a performance of this opera at the State Opera.

Tickets for one of the shows - running from 16th February to 20th April - will range from €17.50 to €50.

Visitors to the city won't want to have to travel too far to reach their destination, so they might find the Copthorne Hotel Hannover is the perfect place to stay.

This is because it is situated around a 15 minutes' drive away.
