Kuwait National Museum
Take an insightful journey in to the culture and history of Kuwait at its National Museum. Being the first museum that was created in Kuwait, it seeks to reflect the traditions, history and culture of the nation. One of the most inspirational places to see in Kuwait, it also boasts one of the most impressive collections of Islamic Art in the world.
Before even going inside, visitors will notice that the Kuwait National Museum building itself is an impressive sight.
The origin of the museum stems from the private residence of Sheikh Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah which was converted to become the first building of the museum. Now visitors to the Kuwait National Museum will find that it features four buildings which are connected to one another by means of a lovely central garden.
One of the four blocks is reserved for purely administrative functions but also features an auditorium. The permanent exhibitions of the museum are all displayed in the other three sections and the museum also features a planetarium.
The museum was looted during the Iraqi invasion of the early 1990's but the museum has managed to recover a significant part of its collection.
Another interesting feature of the museum is that an aluminum space frame covers the inner garden and parts of some of the buildings creating an internal micro climate.
Being an exceptional choice amongst luxury hotels in Kuwait City, guests of Al Jahra Copthorne Hotel and Resort not only will enjoy convenient access to the museum but also a range of amenities during their stay.
