The city of Stuttgart lies in the steeply rising slopes of the River Neckar valley and is the state capital of Baden-Württemberg, one of Germany's richest regions. The city is renowned for industries such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche cars, while wine growing and mineral water bottling are also great contributors to Stuttgart’s economic prosperity. The city is also famous for the VfB Stuttgart football team that claimed the first German championship title after the reunification of the football federations of West and East Germany.

Stuttgart also hosts the world-renowned annual Stuttgart Beer Festival while the Christmas Market of Stuttgart is the largest and considered by many to be the most beautiful in Europe. Stuttgart is well-known for its cultural life, in particular the Staatstheater and Staatsgalerie, home to the world famous Stuttgart Opera and the popular Stuttgart Ballet. The city also features many other theatres and performance arenas.
