About Qingdao China

The coastal city of Qingdao has a rich history which comes as no surprise due to its wonderful and picturesque location. Originally a fishing village the city took on a military role from 1891 when troops were garrisoned in the city by the Imperial Court and then was occupied by the Germans, Japanese and finally reoccupied in 1949 by the Chinese. It is because of these foreign occupations that the city is home to many European structures and houses.

Today Qingdao offers its military past as well as its attractive landscape, unique collective architecture and its pleasant weather. The architecture of Qinqdao features a unique blend of several cultures.

A major area that features this diverse range of architecture is present in the villa area known as Qingdao 8 Passes. The area has concentrated zones made up of German, American, Greek, Spanish, Danish, Japanese, English and Russian constructions. Eight Passes also features specific structures as separate attractions like Huashi Villa which is a magnificent castle like structure with large gardens.

Because the island is so rich in natural and human resources, features year round festivals and events coupled with the city’s plentiful facilities and extensive transportation network, Qingdao has become an ideal tourist destination for both locals and foreigners.
