Located on the northwest coast of the island of Java, Jakarta is the capital and largest city
of Indonesia with around 10 million inhabitants. The city was formerly known as Sunda Kelapa, and
Jayakarta, but was probably more popular as ‘Batavia’ under the Dutch rule during the 17th century.

out of the lot. Jakarta is also home to the gigantic Bung Karno Stadium which on its day can hold
up to 100,000 fans. Other popular sports in Jakarta include Basketball, shooting, tennins and
badminton.
