About Dubai, UAE
The most populous of the seven emirates of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai is known as the
Entertainment Capital of the Middle East.
Jebel Ali, the largest man-made harbour in the world has led Dubai’s drive as an important
tourist destination in recent times. Dubai is also increasingly developing into a hub for service
industries such as IT and finance, and with the establishment of a new Dubai International
Financial Centre (DIFC), Dubai Internet City, and the Dubai Media City, the future definitely looks
bright for Dubai.
Dubai is renowned the world over as the ‘Shopping capital of the Middle East’. From the
traditional ‘Souks’ or market, to the most modern shopping malls and high-class boutiques, the
Dubai shopping experience is definitely one to savor. The Dubai Shopping festival is a month-long
festival held in January each year, during which the entire emirate becomes one enormous shopping
mall. The festival also brings together music shows, art exhibitions, and even folk dances.
But do not mistake Dubai as an urban concrete jungle. The city has carefully preserved some of
its rich heritage and there’s quite a lot more to do in Dubai than just shopping. Some of the
popular Dubai attractions include the world's tallest hotel the iconic Burj Al-Arab, Jumeirah
Mosque, Sheikh Saeed Al Maktoum House, the Dubai Museum in the restored Al Fahidi Fort, and the
Heritage Village of Hatta.
