The two sisters will face each other in one of the competition's semi-finals today (Friday February 20th) but only one can proceed to the final.
Venus and Serena are closely matched on paper, with each having won nine matches against the other, although Serena has had the bigger problems against her opponents in Dubai.
Serena fell behind against Serbian opponent Ana Ivanovic in the quarter-finals but eventually pulled through. She said: "I was feeling a little tired and the next thing I knew I was down three-zero and I thought I'd just have to pull it together."
