|Respect Abu Dhabi's customs, holidaymakers told
Tom Hall, editor of the Lonely Planet travel guide series, urged holidaymakers to be respectful of Abu Dhabi's culture and said doing so could save them a lot of time and trouble.
He said: "We have seen examples of people getting into trouble for overstepping the mark for behaviour that would be acceptable in other parts of the world.
"You have to understand what's acceptable and what's not in the specific place that you are going to."
Mr Hall's warning follows the publication of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's annual British Behaviour Abroad report, which highlighted the United Arab Emirates as a nation that holidaymakers need to research before visiting.
Key concerns were the use of drink and drugs by Brits in foreign countries, which on many occasions had led to arrests.
