|New flights launched to Dubai
During August, the United Arab Emirates' official airline will operate nine additional services between Dubai and Beirut to cope with demand for travel between the two destinations.
Khalid bel Jaflah, Emirates' vice-president of commercial operations, said: "Demand for travel to Beirut from Dubai and the Emirates network is usually very high during summer.
"These flights will give our customers more flexibility and choice of travel dates and flight timings."
He added that the increased demand for travel is partly owing to expats travelling to see loved ones while there is also a high volume of passengers who are flying on holidays.
Meanwhile, Emirates recently celebrated carrying its 250,000th passenger on its Newcastle to Dubai route, which was launched in September 2007 and is popular with those flying to the city as well as those making onward connections.
