|Dubai becoming popular for fashion
According to the Global Language Monitor, a company that tracks the frequency of words and phrases in the media, on the internet and throughout the blogosphere, many new locations are rising through the ranks to become popular in the world of fashion.
Although New York, Rome, Paris, Milan and London took the top five places, Dubai climbed 12 places to reach number 12 in the list of top fashion cities.
Millie Lorenzo Payack, a director at the Global Language Monitor, told Reuters: "The second tier of the cities in the world fashion rankings are coming on strong. And, by the way, money spent on media outreach can, indeed, make a difference; witness Dubai."
Last week a leading fashion designer hailed haute couture in Dubai.
Karl Lagerfield said: "Dubai is a fashion bud on the verge of blossoming into the next fashion hub of the world."
