The competition could potentially see a semi-final face-off between the two Williams sisters, Serena and Venus, with the two famous siblings having been placed in the same half of the draw.
Both sisters have been locked in a strong rivalry over the years and have dominated the women's game with a string of grand slam victories.
Venus told the AFP news agency: "We have had some great matches and I really hope that we have the opportunity to play. If we get there (the semi-finals) I will try my best again."
Serena is currently the world number one although she will face stiff competition from the likes of Amelie Mauresmo, Elena Dementieva and Ana Ivanovic.
