|Double-decker roads to open in Dubai
Situated on Doha Street, the roads have cost Dh605 million (£111 million) and are intended to improve access to recent developments like the Dubai International Financial Centre.
They may also reduce congestion in the busy city and ease access for guests travelling to Dubai hotels.
Five lanes will head towards the Business Bay Crossing and three will lead in the direction of Jumeirah.
Mattar Al Tayer, chairman of the board and executive director of the roads and transport authority (RTA), said: "These projects come in the context of RTA strategy to keep pace with the urbanisation drive and meet the needs of the current and projected demographic growth and expansion of advanced roads and transport network."
The new double-decker roads will run for around two kilometres and are intended to take around 16,000 vehicles every hour travelling both ways.
Music fans may be excited to hear that superstar singer Rihanna is set to perform in Dubai towards the end of May.
