Dubai is to get a new entertainment district themed around Bollywood, India's famed film industry.
The project is a joint venture between Yash Raj Films, India's leading film studio, and a Dubai investment company, Dubai Infinity Holdings (DIH).
Contained in the district will be theme parks, a film 'palace' and other entertainment and leisure concepts themed around the studio's films.
Samira Abdulrazzak, chief executive of DIH, said the first phase of the project would be completed by 2012, transforming Dubai into a hub for Indian cinema.
"We are in talks with some of India's biggest stars and they are as excited as we are to be part of a first-of-its-kind project," she added.
Yash Raj Films has produced some of the biggest hits in Indian cinema, and is one of the largest film production and distribution houses in the world.
