|Art Dubai opens to the public
Gulf News reports that Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, deputy ruler of Dubai, opened the exhibition and praised the work of three winners of the Abraaj Capital Art Prize 2009, which encompasses art from north Africa, south Asia and the Middle East.
Nearly 30 of the 68 galleries offer European art, while 13 come from the Middle East and eight from the Americas, among many other regions of the world.
Dr Omar Bin Sulaiman, governor of the Dubai International Financial Centre and chairman of Art Dubai, told the website: "Art Dubai 2009 reflects the tremendous growth in the quality and sustainability of the UAE's (United Arab Emirates) cultural community throughout the last few years and one of the overarching themes for this year's fair is inclusiveness."
