Abu Dhabi is in talks with the British Museum for the latter to help the emirate turn into a cultural hub, it has emerged.

In an interview with Arabian Business, the chief executive of Tourism Development and Investment Co (TDIC), Lee Tabler, said that the museum would be involved with Abu Dhabi.

"We will be associated with the British Museum," he told the news provider, adding that "it will not be branded the British Museum, [but] they will be assisting with that project".

Arabian Business adds that Mr Tabler said last year that the British Museum would be located in Saadiyat Island, where a Guggenheim Museum is being built.

Two years ago, the world-famous Guggenheim Museum in New York signed a deal with Abu Dhabi to set up a museum in the emirate.

As a result, those staying in an Abu Dhabi hotel will soon be able to visit one of the world's greatest museums.
