|West End ticket sales on the up
From May to August 2009, sales from tkts booths were up by 21 per cent on the same period last year, the Official London Theatre Guide announced.
Run by the Society of London Theatre (SOLT), tkts has outlets in Leicester Square in the heart of the West End and at the Brent Cross shopping centre.
London hotel guests can visit one of the booths to buy tickets for up to 30 shows every day, including top musicals, operas, dance shows and dramas.
There was recently a shake-up in the way that tkts operates, meaning that customers can now buy discount tickets up to seven days in advance, as well as on the day of the performance.
According to SOLT figures, nearly 8.8 million people visited the theatre in the year up to August 15th, an increase of four per cent on the same period last year.
