Central London will provide the finish line for the 2009 Tour of Britain cycling race next month.

The event will be held over eight days, starting in north Lincolnshire on September 12th and coming to an end in the capital on September 19th.

Cyclists will race through eight exciting stages along the way, passing through locations including Newcastle, the Scottish Borders, Blackpool and Somerset.

The culmination of the event will come in London, with riders following a circuit that served as the opening of last year's race featuring plenty of iconic landmarks.

London hotel guests will be able to take up vantage points around Whitehall, Big Ben, the Tower of London, the Houses of Parliament and other areas to watch the finale of the Tour of Britain.

Sports fans will also be heading to Hyde Park on August 15th and 16th to see a Dextro Energy Triathlon World Championship event, which will coincide with the London Warm-up Weekend of Olympic sports being showcased at various venues around the city.
