|Tate explores the lure of the east
British Orientalist Painting opened on June 4th and London hotel visitors will be able to see the exhibition until August 31st.
The display gives an expansive representation of British artists' attitudes towards the character and landscape of the near and Middle East between 1780 and 1930.
More than 120 paintings, drawings and prints are included in the exhibition, depicting environments ranging from bazaars and domestic interiors to public baths and religious sites.
Art lovers will notice a number of famous names in the show, including John Frederick Lewis, Edward Lear, David Wilkie and Lord Leighton.
Later this year Tate Britain will present an exhibition of the work of Francis Bacon, the revered painter whose often dark and disturbing works deal with a range of psychological and emotional themes.
