The Royal Opera House (ROH) will mark the beginning of its new season in October with a production of the Georges Bizet opera Carmen.

London hotel guests will be able to see five performances of the show between October 6th and 24th.

Up-and-coming mezzo-soprano singer Elina Garanca will sing the title role in this production of the Bizet opera, while tenor Roberto Alagna will take to the stage as Don Jose.

The ROH describes Carmen, which had its premiere in Paris in 1875, as the world's most popular opera.

Francesca Zambello directs this particular production of the show, which was first seen in 2006.

Bertrand de Billy will conduct the orchestra, while Ildebrando d'Arcangelo and Chinese soprano Liping Zhang will be among the other cast members.

London hotel guests will be able to choose from a number of shows being performed in Covent Garden over the coming months, including the Royal Ballet's production of The Sleeping Beauty, which will open on October 23rd.
