|Spring Awakening at Lyric Hammersmith
Spring Awakening will open at the venue on January 23rd and run until February 28th.
The show follows the experiences of three young characters Melchior, a brilliant student, the troubled Moritz and Wendla, a beautiful teenage girl.
It is inspired by a work of 1891 by the German playwright Frank Wedekind dealing with themes of repressed emotion and boasts a fresh and exciting contemporary score.
Spring Awakening has already been the subject of an acclaimed New York production and the creative team behind the original show have been invited to the Lyric to oversee the new version.
Later this year, the Lyric Hammersmith will host the Gecko theatre company's adaptation of The Overcoat, a short story of 1842 by Russian writer Nikolai Gogol.
