|Royal Opera House to present Don Carlo
The Royal Opera's acclaimed 2008 production of the show will be staged from September 15th to October 1st, with six performances in total.
A number of the principal cast members who appeared in the opera last year will return this autumn, including Ferrucio Furlanetto, who received an Olivier Award nomination for his portrayal of King Philip of Spain, and Simon Keenlyside.
Taking on the title role will be acclaimed tenor Jonas Kaufmann, while Marina Poplavskaya will perform as Elizabeth of Valois, Don Carlo's mother.
This particular production of Verdi's masterpiece is directed by Nicholas Hytner, head of the National Theatre, with set designs by Bob Crowley and Semyon Bychkov conducting the orchestra.
