|Royal Opera House presents Turandot
The opera, one of many revered works created by Puccini, will show at the Covent Garden venue from December 22nd until January 23rd.
One of the most striking aspects of the Royal Opera's production of Turandot is production designer Andrei Serban's staging, which evokes the story's ancient Chinese setting.
There are a number of intriguing aspects to the opera, including disguised identities, riddles and ritual executions.
The famous tenor aria Nessun Dorma is the best known part of the music of Turandot but there are plenty of other highlights for audiences to enjoy, including the accompaniment to the servant girl Liu's sacrifice to her master Prince Calaf.
Jose Cura and Irene Theorin will initially lead the show's cast as the prince and princess before the roles are taken over in January by Johan Botha and Jennifer Wilson, who will make her Covent Garden debut.
