London's Royal Academy of Arts will soon open the first exhibition dedicated to the Italian architect Andrea Palladio in more than 30 years.

The display, which London hotel visitors will be able to visit from January 31st until April 13th, is being launched to celebrate the 500th anniversary of his birth.

Palladio was one of the great Italian architects and also an influential designer whose work has retained its significance over the course of five centuries.

He was active in Vicenza, Venice and the Veneto region and managed to craft an architectural style that took inspiration from classical sources but met the demands and aesthetic requirements of his time.

Palladio created public buildings, churches, palaces and villas in an oeuvre that is represented in the Royal Academy exhibition by large-scale models, computer animations, original drawings, paintings and other objects.

The display, entitled Andrea Palladio: His Life and Legacy will be presented in collaboration with the Royal Institute of British Architects and the Centro Internazionale di Studi di Architettura Andrea Palladio of Vicenza.
