|River Marathon to course through London
Around 300 rowing crews from all over the world travel to England to take part in the Great River Race, which this year will be held on September 13th.
Various types of competitors get involved in the race, from serious sportspeople to charity campaigners in fancy dress.
The only restrictions on taking part are that competitors must use a traditional, coxed boat propelled by a minimum of four oars or paddles without sliding seats or riggers.
Participants race over a total distance of 22 miles, with the course stretching from Richmond in Surrey to Greenwich in east London, taking in a number of the capital's most distinctive landmarks along the way.
London hotel visitors will be able to gather on riverbanks in a number of locations to watch the race go by, including Fulham, Chelsea, Pimlico and Mayfair.
