|Riders to the Sea at London Coliseum
To mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the much-loved English composer, the English National Opera (ENO) will present four performances of this show between November 27th and 30th.
Riders to the Sea, which is based on JM Synge's 1907 play of the same name, is often considered to be Vaughan Williams' most poignant and moving opera.
It is set in the Aran Islands and features a musical score which, according to the ENO, "communicates all the raw directness of a primitive myth".
This new production of Riders to the Sea is directed by the acclaimed actress Fiona Shaw, with a visual concept jointly developed by Irish multimedia artist Dorothy Cross and set designer Tom Pye.
London hotel visitors who make it to the show will enjoy an evening that will get underway with a performance of Sibelius' Luonnotar by Susan Gritton.
