London's Natural History Museum is currently holding an exhibition designed to recognise the anniversary of the theory of natural selection.

July 1st marked 150 years since the idea of natural selection was revealed to the world by two men, Charles Darwin and Alfred Russel Wallace.

Darwin and Wallace presented their theory, which is now acknowledged as biology's most important fundamental concept, to the Linnean Society in London on the first day of July in 1858.

To mark the occasion, the Natural History Museum opened a display of original objects that illustrate how Wallace and Darwin developed their idea.

Kensington hotel visitors can see objects such as original copies of the scientific article they presented 150 years ago, a bird of paradise collected by Wallace and pigeon bones presented by Darwin.

February 12th 2009 will represent the 200th anniversary of Charles Darwin's birth and, to mark the occasion, the Natural History Museum plans to unveil a new installation artwork by Tania Kovats.
