|London to be overtaken by Design Festival
This event, which was established in 2003, will run from September 13th to 23rd and will be based at a number of venues around the capital.
The 2008 festival is set to be the biggest yet, with more than 200 public projects and shows based at more than 150 locations including museums, shops, colleges and trade fairs.
One of the sites that will be involved in the London Design Festival is Trafalgar Square, which will host a project by Jamie Hayon inspired by the architecture of his native Spain.
Another highlight of this year's festival will be the Brompton Design District, an area stretching from the Serpentine Gallery to the Brompton Quarter, which will be brought to life with events, design shops and 'guerrilla galleries'.
The 2008 programme at this venue will culminate with a late-night opening that London hotel visitors will be able to experience on September 18th.
