Over the coming months, the Theatre Royal Haymarket will take on the guise of Treasure Island as it plays host to a stage adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure story.

Keith Allen is making his West End debut in the production, which London hotel visitors will be able to see until the end of February.

Allen, who has starred in films including Shallow Grave and recently played the Sherriff of Nottingham in the BBC television series Robin Hood, will embody the famous pirate Long John Silver in the play.

The famous tale sees a young boy, Jim Hawkins, embark on an adventure after he finds a map showing the location of the legendary lost treasure of Captain Flint.

Treasure Island is directed by Sean Holmes, best known for his work with the Royal Shakespeare Company, from an adaptation by Ken Ludwig, writer of the award-winning plays Lend Me a Tenor and Moon Over Buffalo.

From April next year, the Theatre Royal Haymarket will host a production of the Samuel Beckett play Waiting for Godot starring Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart.
