|London prepares for Great River Race
This event, which is billed as London's 'river marathon', will be held on September 5th.
It attracts hundreds of rowing crews from around the world, who race over a 22-mile course from Richmond in Surrey to Greenwich in south-east London.
The route takes in several iconic landmarks and provides London hotel guests and other visitors with plenty of good vantage points along the way.
A wide range of competitors take part in the Great River Race, from serious sportsmen and women to charity fundraisers and participants in fancy dress.
The rowers race against one another in traditional coxed boats propelled by a minimum of four oars or paddles.
London's river will also be the centre of the Mayor's Thames Festival, which will feature live music, dancing and many other free outdoor events on the weekend of September 12th and 13th.
